[First off there's a photo of a pile of post-its that Kenzi has had the pleasure of finding all over her desk and where ever else her boss thought she'd find them. The top few have been maliciously scribbled out but they pretty much all read the same thing, reminding her of her dates and Xanatos' offer to pay for a date at a four star restaurant.
So now she must share her pain with Gil. The text accompanying the image reads:] so my boss wont stop being a douche and reminding me about the date
[Normally Kenzi wouldn't do this, but it's Gil and this is punishment for not answering the phone (to be fair she probably picked an ungodly hour to call in the first place). For a moment there's silence soon followed by Kenzi reading a particularly saucy passage from Nelson's book. Somehow she manages to get through two whole paragraphs before she's cut off by the limit.
Oh well, that should be enough for him to learn his lesson, right?]
[ The message keeps going and while he recognizes Kenzi's distinctive voice, he's too shocked and feeling scandalized and utterly dirty from what he's hearing to consider what she's reading from.
[ Nobody who's drunk goes on for this long! Flailing now and burning hot and red, he thinks moving away from the phone and covering his ears will do the trick. ]
[ somehow, in all the excitement, she'd forgotten to do what was most important: namely, to thank him. ]
Mister Gilbert?
I'm sorry for not doing it sooner, but I wanted to thank you for coming the other day. [ She pauses. ] You went quite a bit out of your way, so I wanted to show you my appreciation. I can't offer much, but I can offer a meal, at least. Let me know when your schedule is available.
[The video starts off with Kenzi fussing over the placement of the comm and then smoothing down her jacket and hair. She glances about as if to make sure no one's around then turns back to the camera to speak.]
Hey, Gil. If you're getting this it means I've been ported out and it wasn't just a freak twenty-four hour thing. But, um...
[She pauses, pressing her lips together as if thinking of what to say next.] Dude, I'm really not good at this stuff. [The video turns off only to turn back on, it can be assumed it's a few hours later.]
Right. Uh, well... If I don't come back I just wanted you to know no matter what you are your own person. And that person is a great person. At least I think so and that's all that matters. [She gives a little laugh and shifts.]
Also, I love you. [A little pause to give him a moment to freak out, she can't seem to help but grin.] I mean that as in you were like family to me. So don't freak out too much.
I know, it's all sappy but it's true. You meant a lot to me and I can never thank you enough for being there and just being you.
[She leans forward to the end the video, pausing for a moment to make sure she said everything she wanted to say before shutting off the feed.]
[ While most people might replay the message over and over to ensure they've swallowed every word, Gil lets the video play one round and when it's done, he puts it aside the table adjacent to the bed and sits there with his hands in his lap and eyes staring straight ahead at the window.
The blush that had initially crept its way into his cheeks is long gone now knowing Kenzi was only teasing him about the "love" part of her message.
He keeps thinking about the parts she called him a "great person" and he tells himself it's not true and she's only being kind. She's always been to him, despite knowing how useless and pathetic he really is. She may have teased him, too, but she's always cared for him in ways he still doesn't completely understand.
This goodbye cements the fact she no longer is in this world and hopefully has been rightfully returned to hers. It's selfish to miss her as home is where she belongs, but he does. His chest feels strange -- like someone's split it open and carved it hollow though there's an underlying mixture of emotions.
But what a terribly selfish feeling. ]
[network PM backdated to...someday after Gil ends up in Capers]
[So there's Kenzi standing in what looks to be Gil's apartment with Sir Apple sitting on her head.]
Hey, so, I couldn't get a hold of you on your phone so I came over to see what's up and there's no one here. Did you guys get to go on an epic adventure without me?
[Gil will also find, like, a dozen voice and text messages left on his phone from Kenzi all prior to her just...breaking into his place.]
[ Christ, she really did leave a lot of messages. He took the time to listen and read all of them, feeling quite bad despite having no control over where he gets sent. ]
If you're getting this, it means I ported out. It's probably just one of those times when Lachesis thinks we all need to see another dimension, so it's no big deal.
If it's more than that? Then I guess I'm out of our team, if you can call it that. Do me a favor and let the others know. If I get any fucking say in it, I'll be back in the City before the week's up, but you know how it can be here. We don't always get to make the call.

From Julian to Gil on his port-out
If you're getting this, it means I ported out.
I'll see you around, man. Later.
